Purple Rain

I'm the type of girl who buys a gazillion different shades of eye shadows, but particularly sticks to one favorite hue-- purple. After scanning the makeup counters over the past few weeks, I was happy to see lots of lovely shades of lavender and plum. One of the best perks about purple eye shadow is that it's one of the most versatile shades that work with most eye colors and makes them pop without the overkill.

Here are my favorite purple shades in warm and cool tones:

Warm:

Top: bareMinerals in Shantung
Bottom: Sunday Riley in Prismasilk Eye Color in Burnt Eggplant

Warmer shades are perfect for enhancing an au naturale look and are best complimented with a woodsy wardrobe color palette i.e. browns, tans, nutmegs, burgundies, and even a deep teal. Try pairing a plum lid with a deeper brown or plum in the crease to amp up the color. Heck, depending on the shade, you may not even need another color in the crease. One shade could be all you need!

Botom: bareMinerals in Flamenco

Cool, metallic purple shades are best mixed with silver tones. I love pairing the two when I'm decked out in grey and black. With an all purple lid, thinly line your bottom lashes (like eyeliner) with silver shadow and swipe the top inside corner of your lid too. This little trick adds so much more look without doing too much. But, if you want to take it up a notch in the evening, create a smoke eye by adding a charcoal black shadow in the crease and outside top corner of the lid. Remember to blend!

Uploading some of my looks soon. Stay tuned!
