Holla Back Hologram

Oh, the trends of today! I'm definitely seeing more and more futuristic themes nowadays with lucite and now with hologram or holographic-- whatever you wanna call it! Available in a range of shades from yellow to purple, holographic pieces add a playful punch. I just snagged a lovely little handbag from NastyGal and I can't wait to sport it with lots of loud colors and prints. These fun pieces are definitely conversation starters that are eye-catching and shine oh-so-bright!

Sunday Funday: Anniversary Edition in Cobalt Blue and Bright Orange

OH-EM-GEE I finally found some time to blog! I just started the Fashion Merchandise Marketing graduate program at FIDM San Francisco last week, so I'm getting adjusted to my new schedule and crazy workload. And let me tell ya, this ain't no joke!

Anyway, this past Monday was mine and my boyfriend's 6th anniversary! (If any one of you asks me when he's going to propose, I will personally punch you in the face! lol) So on Sunday, we decided to take advantage of this gorgeous weather and have a celebratory brunch after we took care of our babies (our plants) followed by some intense go-kart racing-- we're adrenaline junkies like that.

I opted for a new, cobalt blue lace number from Express that I've been dyyyyiinngg to wear when the weather reached over 70 degrees along with BCBG studded sandals in orange. I had to show my excitement and love for spring some kind of way and this is the best route I know how-- through my clothes!

So go on and click for lots of shots of our beautiful, celebratory day...enjoy!

Loving Everything Lucite

Whenever I think or see anything lucite, I start to sing Jimmy Cliff's "I Can See Clearly Now". This trend has popped up several season's ago, but didn't really take off as anticipated. No, no, no, I'm not talking about tacky stripper platforms or glittery jelly sandals we all rocked proudly when we were six years old. This time around, it's an updated and modern take using plexiglass and materials of the like. With Spring here, you can clearly see more and more lucite clutches, cuffs, heels, bangles and jewelry.

Check below to see what the hell I'm talking about:

For the Sneakerhead in Me

This may come as a shock to many people, but I used to be a tomboy. No seriously. I'm talking saggy jeans, high top sneakers, baggy t-shirts, hair in a low ponytail at all times paired with a backwards, snapback hat. You could always catch me playing kickball and dodgeball on the 'black top' or taking boys down on the field with streaks of grass staining my shirts.

Good thing this only lasted until I was 10 years old. Although, I still like to collect sneakers and incorporate them in my looks-- just not in a way that makes me look like a full-on dude.

Here are some sneaks I'm diggin' at the moment:

Lusting for Leopard Print

Denim: Current/Elliott, Shoes: Tod's No_Code, Gloves: Causse Gantier Scarf: Alexander McQueen, Handbag: Dolce & Gabbanna, Sweater: Top Shop

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am the most passionate lover of anything and everything leopard print. Heck, even a stranger knows that I la-la-la-la-la-love, the spotted print. Of course, I contain my urge to dress head-to-toe, no problem there, but I couldn't resist making a lil' collage. Hope you enjoy!

New Year's Eve Looks

Before December even began, questions started to arise about plans for New Year's Eve. Really? I had no clue what my plans were and still don't, and usually, I don't get too crazy about planning an elaborate New Year's Eve extravaganza. Although, I did get inspired to create some looks for the evening...for whatever I'm planning to do!

Take a peek at three looks below:

Jumpsuit: Catherine Malondrino Necklace: Pamela Love Pumps: Guiseppe Zanotti

Top: H&M Pumps: Charlotte Olympia Cuff: Tory Burch Skirt: Topshop
Dress: Alice + Olivia Earrings: Rachel Zoe Pumps: Christian Louboutin

Some Badass Pumps

After piling up bags of clothes to give away to charity, I knew a time for replenishment was near. So while skimming through my closets with notebook in hand, I scribbled down notes of what I'm missing.   From coats to sweaters to denim to scarves...I finally came down to my favorite: some badass pumps! You know, those statement heels that commands attention, is a conversation starter and can only be worn with something simple and chic. Of course, these aren't necessities per say since they're not everyday type of pieces. But they're still nice to have when that random occasion pops up.

Take a look at some of my picks below:

What I Would Do With a Leather Pencil Skirt

The day that I commit to purchasing a leather skirt, will be a day of victory. Think of it as a bucket list item to check off for a fashionista. A leather pencil skirt can be both simple and understated with minimal accessories, soft colors and textures. If you want to amp it up, just add bold colors, graphics lots of details. You know, shiny things and embellishments. This skirt is a staple item that will last for years to come and probably a piece that my future daughter will try to steal from my closet. I still don't know why my mom hasn't gone Kris Jenner on my ass and put a lock and key on the doors to her walk-in closet.

Peep below for my picks:

Top Row (from left to right): Marni shoulder bag, Peter Pilotto top, The Row pencil skirt
Bottom Row (from left to right): Bijoux Heart earrings, Yves Saint Laurent ring, Christian Louboutin pumps

Rain Boots?

Yesterday morning I woke up to rain. Immediately I thought, "What the hell am I gonna wear (on my feet)?" Good thing, earlier this year, I purchased a pair of rain boots that don't really look like...well, rain boots. And that's what I liked most about my new, deceiving rain shoes. Not to my surprise, more styles of rain boots, sneakers and shoes are on the shelves and making appearances online: heels, wedges, rubber bows, mixed textiles, buckles, studs, laces and more. Now don't get me wrong, I adore the classic shiny, tall, rain boot style...I just like the new kids on the blockmore!

Here are the rain 'sneakers' I bought earlier this year:

Loafers: the Ballet Flat Alternative

Next on my list of purchases is a pair of loafers. I must admit, whenever I see loafers, I think of Kourtney Kardashian's baby's daddy, Scott Disick. HA! But seriously, it's taken me a while to start a love affair with loafers. I was fighting this perception of loafers paired with old men in smoking coats with cigars and a glass of brandy.

A pair of loafers is a perfect look to step up and away from a ballet flat. This season is full of colorful prints, lovely textures and kick ass studs, which add a clean flair to any look.

Take a look at some of my fave loafers below:

Christian Louboutin

Steve Madden

Sam Edelman
